Many a times in life we go through a dark night of the soul...a challenging or a painful experience.
And the night seems to last forever and there seems to be no respite.
The dark clouds are so heavy and foreboding and they don't seem to budge. Days on end the darkness envelopes our entire being and we are plunged into what seems like a black hole where no light can enter.
One starts to wonder if the sun will come out! But it does ...when we call on it, it tears deep holes into the dark clouds and finally the Light dawns and clears all the darkness and pain. Everything looks new and filled with unusual clarity. This painting reveals that Light that is hid within each one of us. It is bright and strong and destroy the darkest of nights. But why do we wait for things to get so bad to connect with it?
Why do we not make that conscious effort each day to connect with the true source of our being?
It is just waiting for us to patiently find it...and till we don't we will continue to suffer. It reminds me of these beautiful line from Sri Aurobindo's epic poem Savitri..
""Was then the sun a dream because there is night?
Hidden in the mortal's heart the Eternal lives:
He lives secret in the chamber of thy soul,
A Light shines there nor pain nor grief can cross.
A darkness stands between thyself and him,
Thou canst not hear or feel the marvellous Guest,
Thou canst not see the beatific sun... "
